Go home. Or go hand in your license. Who even let you outside?

I always love it when they honk at you for not turning right on red when there is either a) a car that they can't see coming or b) a sign that says very clearly NO TURN ON RED.

Or people who honk when you won’t block an intersection. Or a ‘no turn on red’. Or when you don’t cross RR tracks until the lights stop flashing.

I’ve had people honk at me for refusing to “block the box.”

I just want to get out of my car and bitch slap them.

This happens to me daily trying to leave my parking garage. It’s easily been the worst part of driving a somewhat uncommon car, because I feel like I have to ignore it rather than just flip them off.

This is why I do not honk at people unless I feel endangered by what they are doing. I tend to forget that I even have a horn, it is not something I use very often. But yeah impatient people are the worst, just relax and go with the flow, you will get there eventually.

I usually honk in only two instances. When someone is driving dangerously in a situation that might end up involving me (almost hitting me when cutting me off, almost merging into me, etc) and if the light turns green but they don’t notice.

For that second one I usually wait 3-5 seconds before giving them the lightest, shortest tap of a honk.

I’ve been flipped off 4 times for doing that.

Oh I know that feeling all too well. I finally get to flip people off because the Subaru is a lot more common than most of what I've had in the past

I also honk when I can see they're not looking at their surroundings, or texting, but that can be put in with feeling endangered by what they're doing

I had to contain my profanity as some asshole in his big-ass Chevy Silverado who decided it was okay to tailgate and pass people doing 60 in a school zone. In front of the school where kids are getting dropped off. I hope the driver gets a bent valve!

I did this yesterday and the lady brake checked me.

Lady stopped short about a bus length from the car ahead at a red light in the right lane. Before the light turns green she looks up and eases up to the car ahead and looks back down. Light turns green and everyone goes but her (and everyone behind her including me of course). I give a quick honk and she looks up briefly, starts accelerating, and looks back down. She immediately starts veering off to the right and is headed to run into a ditch. I lay into my horn, she looks up, snatched the car to the left, and looks back down. I honk again, she glares at me and slams on her brakes. I mouth get off your phone. This all takes less than 30 seconds.

Finally a break in left lane and hop over to pass but get caught behind a left lane cruiser going 60 in a 65. She speeds up to block me and stays next to me for about a minute. Apparently she couldn’t stay off her phone long enough and I see her pick it up and immediately drop speed like she let off the gas completely.

I watched her in my mirror as she went about 45-50 (still a 65 limit) running off the road, holding up traffic, and swerving into the adjacent lane. I sped up to catch a yellow and not get stuck near her again.

Moral of the story: I should’ve let her run off the road initially while she was still going slow enough not to cause harm to others.

Another time a girl kept swerving into my lane every time she picked up her phone. I honked at her every time she picked it up after and 3-4 honks later she put it down while I was around.

Amen.

Especially when there are four “no right on red” signs on the intersection...

Wow....just wow. I was thinking the other day about how it’s possible that so many people are so okay with completely ignoring the world around them while driving, or at least not giving it their full attention. I went, “okay, what is different about how I learned to drive, from how most young people learned to drive?” Up until my current car, almost everything I’ve driven has been manual, and from the 80s. It’s not even remotely an option to text casually while you’re driving an old car like that, unless you’re colossally dumb. So I wonder if more people text since newer “safer” cars are way more cut off from the outside world. It creates more of a disconnect. Anyways, not a fully-formed thought yet lol.

I think that plays a role. I still have my first car (a truck actually). It's a 79. Nothing safe except the seat belts.

I just don’t understand how people are able to send legible texts while driving. Any time I have tried, even with cruise control and low traffic, it is just way too hard to divert any focus to the text. I suppose these people just stop focusing on driving but I cannot do that if I tried lol.
